HISTORY PRESERVATION PROJECT

A call was put out through our email network and the WMA quarterly magazine ‘Nouncements for women of every era to send their stories and memorabilia for an experimental exhibit that began August 13, 2005 at the Castle Rock Museum in Colorado. The chapter was overwhelmed with generous, valuable, and historic donations.

These included the, “At the Ready” oil painting as well as two Stanley Gordon paintings of his sister Genevieve Bowen who served as a WR (Women’s Reserves)  in WWII.  This experimental exhibit (concluded in Aug ‘07) was wildly successful to the point that today we are completely filling three storage units with memorabilia and uniforms and we get more every day.  Parts of the exhibit are touring the country this year (2008) and will continue to do so at Marine Corps Expos, WMA  Chapter events, our and other associations conventions, and selected sites across the country with a special interest.
